Hey, I’m Enya!
Here’s how we get started.
-
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. Many psychological problems, especially trauma, stem from memories that weren't properly processed at the time they occurred. They get "stuck," and every time something triggers them, your brain and body react as if the event is happening right now.
EMDR helps the brain reprocess those stuck memories so they lose their emotional charge. You still remember what happened, but it no longer feels overwhelming or threatening.

We’ll have a quick call to chat about your circumstances and decide if we think that EMDR therapy can help. This call is FREE
-
Your first session lasts between 45 - 60 minutes. We go through your history in a safe space that’s completely confidential, and identify the events and thoughts that cause you most trouble.
-
Some people need 2-4 sessions, some people need more. There’s no right or wrong. But you are not committed to any given number of EMDR sessions. We do what suits you and your personal circumstances.
What happens during an EMDR session?
History Taking - Understanding your background, identifying target memories and current symptoms.
Assessment - Identifying the specific memory to work on, the negative belief it created.
Desensitisation - The core processing phase using bilateral stimulation.
Installation - Strengthening the positive belief to replace the negative one.
Body Scan - Checking for any remaining physical tension linked to the memory.
Closure - Returning to a calm, grounded state at the end of each session.
